Tell us about your background in physiotherapy:

I graduated from The University of Nottingham (UK) in 2016, and started my physiotherapy career at a public hospital here in Hong Kong. During my rotations, I gained experience in a wide variety of specialties including acute orthopaedics, neurology, women’s health, sports rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal therapy.

During these last few years, I have developed interest particularly in sports injury prevention and rehabilitation. During my undergraduate course, I volunteered in different sporting events in the UK, such as cycling and football, and provided on-site physio treatments to athletes. After three years of working, I pursued a Master’s Degree in Sports Medicine and Health Science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which gave me an opportunity to provide on-field support for the Kitchee female football team.

What are your interests?

I enjoy doing yoga during my spare time. Apart from helping me to calm my body and mind, it also furthers my understanding of body asymmetries and muscle imbalance and allows me to apply it to my clinical practice.

I also like to bake when I am free, it brings me joy when I see my family and friends enjoy my treats.

Tell us about a life-changing experience or adventure you’ve been on.

When I was 15 years old, I went to study abroad in the UK alone. At first, I was overwhelmed by the culture shock but very quickly I was able to integrate into the new environment. This great experience enabled me to meet a lot of people around the world and as well to brush up on my communication skills. It is very important in my physiotherapy practice to build rapport with my clients in order to truly understand and treat their fundamental problems.

What is your area of expertise?

I believe that every body is different, therefore I aim to provide comprehensive assessment and tailor-made treatments to every client based on individual needs. I usually combine manual therapy and acupuncture with specific exercise prescriptions to tackle the origin of pain and discomfort.

I treat clients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including sports-related injuries and work-related pain such as chronic neck and back pain. In addition to that, I am also interested in treating women’s health conditions such as pre and post-natal related problems, and urinary incontinence.

What is the most fulfilling part of this job?

I find it very rewarding to be part of a client’s rehabilitation journey and work together towards their goals. It is fulfilling when I see their quality of life has improved and gradually returned to what they enjoy doing.
